Blind Screening Mode
Last updated
Blind Screening Mode hides candidate names and uploaded filenames in the Candidates tab so that your first-pass review is driven by the AI score — not by a name that might introduce unconscious bias.
What Blind Screening Hides
When Blind Screening is enabled, the following are replaced with an anonymised token:
- Candidate display name — the name extracted from the resume.
- Uploaded filename — the original file name shown alongside the candidate row.
Everything else remains visible and fully functional:
- Numeric score and grade letter (A / B / C / D)
- Triage tag (Strong / Maybe / Skip)
- AI reasoning and score breakdown bars
- Career Story panel (velocity, trajectory fit, career anchor, predicted next roles, gaps and flags)
- Shortlist, pin, and triage actions
Where to Enable It
- Go to Settings > Preferences.
- Toggle Blind Screening to the on position.
- The change takes effect immediately — no page reload or re-scoring required.
To turn it off at any time, return to the same toggle and switch it off.
How It Appears in the Candidates Tab
With Blind Screening enabled, each candidate's name is replaced by a consistent anonymised token in the format candidate-[id] — for example, candidate-42. The token is stable across sessions: the same candidate always shows the same token, so you can refer to them in notes or conversations with colleagues without revealing their identity prematurely.
The token appears everywhere the name would normally appear: the candidate row, the detail panel header, and any exported shortlists you generate while the mode is active.
When to Use It
Enable Blind Screening at the start of a review cycle when you want the AI score and Career Story to anchor your shortlisting decisions before names or demographics enter the picture. Once you have built your shortlist and are ready to move into interview scheduling, disable the toggle — names reappear instantly across all candidate rows.
A typical workflow:
- Enable Blind Screening before opening the Candidates tab for the first time after scoring.
- Shortlist candidates based on score, triage tag, and Career Story signals.
- Disable Blind Screening when you are ready to schedule interviews and need to address candidates by name.
Team Scope
Blind Screening is a per-account preference. Each team member controls it independently from their own Settings > Preferences page. Enabling it for yourself has no effect on what your colleagues see — they can independently choose whether to work in blind or sighted mode for the same job.
