About HireSalt
HireSalt is AI resume screening software: it scores each resume against criteria you set, explains every score, and ranks candidates for you to review.
What it does
You paste a job description. HireSalt drafts weighted scoring criteria for the role, and you can edit them before any resume is scored. Every resume for that job is then scored against the same criteria, with a short written note on each sub-criterion, and the candidates are ranked.
Weights lock once the first candidate is scored, so the standard does not shift halfway through a pile. On scored candidates you can preview a different weighting and watch the ranking reorder before you decide.
A score is decision support. A person decides. HireSalt is not an applicant tracking system, a sourcing tool or a background-check service.
Why it works this way
Screening is a different job from reading. It means applying the same standard to every resume in a pile, then being able to show someone how you did it. A chat window or a spreadsheet can help with a handful of resumes, but neither holds the criteria fixed for you or keeps the reasoning where a colleague can find it later.
HireSalt is built around those two things: one scorecard per job, and a written reason behind every score. The longer comparison is in why not just ask ChatGPT to screen your resumes.
How the scoring is tested
We set a pass bar before each test, then publish the result, including the tests that did not pass. The tests ask whether a resume gets a similar score when it is scored again, whether every score carries a written reason, whether stuffing a resume with job-ad keywords moves its score, whether the AI-drafted criteria fit the role, and how different language models compare on the same resumes.
We do not claim the scoring is free of bias, and we do not claim accuracy against who turned out to be a good hire.

Candidate data
Resumes and job descriptions are not used to train AI models. Before resume text goes to an AI provider, the email addresses and phone numbers HireSalt detects are removed. The details are in where candidate resumes go in HireSalt and the privacy policy.
