Filtering and Sorting Candidates

Last updated

The filter bar sits at the top of the Candidates tab and lets you narrow the visible list without losing your place. Every filter is reflected in the URL, so you can share a pre-filtered view with a colleague by copying the address bar.

Triage Filter

Use the triage selector to show All, Strong, Maybe, or Skip candidates. The tag for each candidate is assigned automatically when HireSalt compares a candidate's score against your screening threshold. Changing the threshold and re-triaging updates these tags; the filter immediately reflects the new assignment. This is the fastest way to focus your review on one band of the pipeline at a time.

Shortlisted Filter

The shortlisted selector has three states: All, Shortlisted only, and Not yet shortlisted. Switch to Not yet shortlisted after a bulk shortlist action to quickly spot anyone who slipped through — for example, candidates who scored just below the top 10 but may still deserve a manual look.

Score Range

Set a minimum score, a maximum score, or both to narrow the list to a specific band. For example, entering 65–85 isolates the "Maybe" sweet spot — candidates who are not automatic accepts or rejects and benefit most from a closer read. Leave either end blank to filter from zero or up to one hundred.

Trajectory Filter

Filter by the direction of a candidate's career arc: Ascending, Flat, or Non-linear. Trajectory is derived from HireSalt's Career Story analysis and is independent of the numeric score — two candidates with identical scores can have very different career shapes. Use this filter when the role demands a specific growth pattern, such as consistently ascending progression for a senior individual-contributor position.

Weak Criterion Deep-Link

In the Recommendations tab, gap signal chips identify criteria where the candidate pool is collectively weak. Clicking a chip jumps directly to the Candidates tab with a weak criterion filter pre-applied, showing only candidates who scored below average on that specific criterion. This lets you act on a Recommendations finding in one click rather than manually configuring the filter.

Tip: The trajectory and weak-criterion filters are especially powerful after the Recommendations tab surfaces a gap — click a gap signal chip in Recommendations to jump directly to the filtered candidate list.

Active Filter Count Badge

The filter bar displays a count badge showing how many filters are currently active. Each distinct filter — triage tag, shortlist status, score minimum, score maximum, trajectory direction, and weak criterion — counts as one. Click Reset to clear all active filters at once and return to the full unfiltered list.

URL Persistence

Every active filter is written into the page URL as a query parameter — for example, ?triage=strong&shortlisted=false&score_min=65. The filter state is restored automatically when you reload the page or return from a detail view. To share a pre-filtered view, copy the URL from the address bar and send it to a colleague; they will land on the same filtered list.
